Intentional Protection: A Man's Job!

The recent headlines about the Gosnell abortion horrors and the Ariel Castro kidnappings portray brutality and abuse too graphic to write about here, but compel us to ask, “Why do these things happen in a civil society, and how do we prevent these atrocities in the future?” First, let’s look at the why? Besides the obvious that we live in a sinful world, I believe, if we go a bit deeper, something has changed in our culture.  God’s intentional prescription for male and female relationships, sexuality, marriage, life and family have been mocked and deemed unnecessary. The result- the opposite of God’s prescription is actually practiced and even promoted. This leads to death, as promised in scripture, James 1:15b, “When sin (missing the mark) is accomplished, it brings forth death.”

How do we prevent this and turn the tide in this ‘culture of death’? I believe the answer goes back to God’s first responder in His Kingdom plan - Men!  Men have always been God’s solution for protection. Women also play a role, but Genesis chapter 2 reveals God first making Adam, then placing him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. In other words, God made man to protect, provide and priestly govern the first culture of life.  Men, we need your protection now!

Men, you have what it takes to transform this culture of death where innocent babies and girls are robbed of the life God intended for them. Our best prevention option is for men to step up and create a culture of life using God’s prescription and then cultivate it, just like the Garden of Eden.

Men, do you have an intentional plan for protecting your family, community and culture? Consider these three suggestions:

1. Teach your family God’s blueprint for relationships, sexuality, marriage and life.
